About the artist . . .
A.J. Casson was the youngest member of the Group of Seven and replaced Frank Johnston, who had resigned from the Group early on.
Casson is celebrated for his achievements to Canadian Art, along with Carmichael and F.H. Brigden (Fredrick), founding the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour and also his capturing of the Ontario Village, a moment in time before progress overpowered these tapestries.
